Chrysler brand is only one of two U.S. automaker brands to appear in Total Car Score's Top 10 Best Car Brands for 2012.

Chrysler is #8 on the list with a score of 79.78 on a 100-point scale. There's only a 2.78-point difference between the #1 brand Infiniti and #10 Kia. The other U.S. car brand, Buick, came in #3 at 81.30.

Like other Chrysler Group brands, Chrysler's quality has noticeably improved in the past couple years, and that improvement was again evident in Total Car Score's 2012 rating. Chrysler had the second highest improvement in score from 2011 with a +3.71-point change.

For a related story, look back at this November blog post we did that demonstrates the improved quality of the 16 new or significantly refreshed vehicles we launched in 2010 and 2011.

Total Car Score determines its rating by calculating the high-level ratings from the most authoritative automotive sources and converts them into a single scale. Each vehicle’s Total Car Score incorporates up to nine equally weighted industry sources. That score is then increased or decreased depending on how the car's EPA fuel economy compares to others in its segment.
