SRT Viper GTS-R race cars and their drivers for the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans

After months of preparation and relocating an entire race team to France, it's time for the drivers of the SRT Viper GTS-R to put the pedal to the metal for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Race qualifying sessions will be held Wednesday and Thursday evening at the Circuit de la Sarthe. The race gets underway on Saturday, June 22, at 3 pm in France (9 am EDT).

The SRT Motorsports and Riley Technologies teams have been in France for nearly two weeks, prepping for the race. It's the first time a factory-backed Viper has run the 24-hour race since the car dominated Le Mans with three straight class wins in 1998-2000.

The two SRT Viper GTS-Rs race in the GTE Professional class, battling the Chevrolet Corvette C6.6, Aston Martin Vantage GTE, Porsche 911 RSR and Ferrari 458 Italia GT2. Last year's winner in the class completed 336 laps of the 8.5-mile course.

Sadly, we all can't be in France for the race this weekend. But it is easy, via the Internet and television, to keep up with the Vipers' progress in the race.

TV: Speed TV will broadcast 21.5 hours of the race live, and stream the remaining 2.5 hours on its website, www.speedtv.com. The broadcast begins Saturday at 8:30 am EDT, 30 minutes before the race starts. The live broadcast runs until 2 pm EDT, then resumes at 4 pm for three hours. Then Speed will pick up the race at 7:30 pm and stay with it until the checkered flag waves at 9 am EDT on Sunday, plus 30 minutes of post-race coverage.

Internet: The SRT Motorsports team is already live blogging from the race. You can read the blog at www.drivesrt.com/live. Stories and information from the track are being posted at www.drivesrt.com/racing.
