(Jason Vines is the vice president of communications at The New Chrysler)

Our new blog is just getting off the ground and we're anxious to have an open and honest dialogue with our customers, potential customers and employees.

First, I want to thank all the people who took the time to comment. We’ve been reading every single one that’s come in, and some of those comments just seemed to beg for a response. That’s what I’ll try to do with this post.

To everyone who wished us well for being back in American hands—thanks! I’d say everyone at Chrysler sees our change in ownership and new-found autonomy as a plus. But let me add that during those nine years of the merger, many of us made some wonderful friendships with our counterparts in Stuttgart. It was sad to see our German colleagues leave Auburn Hills.

Daimler retains an ownership stake in The New Chrysler, and many joint projects are still moving forward. There’s no bad blood. The people at Daimler are our partners … and we look forward to sharing their safety and fuel-saving technologies for years to come. Our technology-sharing with Daimler, like clean diesel engines and hybrid technology, will help us improve the fuel-efficiency of our lineup, something important to our customers and our nation, as we seek to lessen our country’s dependence on foreign oil.

Now, to those of you who commented on Bob Nardelli’s appointment as CEO. A fresh set of eyes from outside the industry can find new and better ways of doing things. Our owners at Cerberus think Bob’s incredible track record in successfully running the many businesses he did, at General Electric and on the retail side of Home Depot, can speed up the recovery of The New Chrysler. Everyone’s future at Chrysler—our employees, our dealers, our retirees, our supplier partners—rests on a sustainable recovery. We know that. More power to him, if you ask me.

To our Canadian friends disappointed that the lifetime warranty doesn’t apply to them, we understand your feelings and mean no disrespect. Unfortunately, there is a law in some Canadian provinces that would not allow us to offer the same warranty we are offering in the U.S.

I’m checking the comments and will post answers from time to time. Talk again soon.
