Cool cars lead to a hot job

On a warm week day in early June, the minds of middle and high school students tend to be fixed on the countdown to the start of summer vacation, not their future careers.

But fill a school parking lot with more than two dozen brightly colored cars, trucks and concept vehicles and it plants seeds that may sprout years later.

That's the fuel for the "Where Innovation Meets Design" car show at the Utica Community Schools district in Southeast Michigan, which is now in its ninth year.

Chrysler Group Supports Detroit Design Festival

A white SRT Viper served as a multimedia canvas during the Detroit Design Festival kick-off party.

Detroit's design community is vibrant, ground-breaking and growing beyond its traditional automotive roots. Helping drive that growth and generate greater exposure for new designers is the mission of the Detroit Creative Corridor Center.

The Chrysler Group joined that effort with a prime sponsorship role for the 2013 Detroit Design Festival, five days of gallery shows, seminars, walking tours and demonstrations in central Detroit that ran from Sept. 17-22.

Chrysler Helps Inspire Future Automotive Designers

Eight talented high school students are the winners of the “Autorama High School Design Competition 2013” sponsored by the College for Creative Studies, Detroit Autorama and United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

The Chrysler Group helped bring back the competition after a decades-long absence to help inspire future automotive designers.

The sketches of two students from the ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th grades each were chosen in the competition.
