One trip, Five Engineers, Countless Smiles

When’s the last time you took a road trip? 

If you’re like us, it’s probably been waaay too long.  So let’s live vicariously through five Chrysler Group LLC engineers who didn’t just drive any ole’ truck on a 1,600-mile road trip to Talladega, but rolled down south in the all-new, 2010 Ram Heavy Duty Trucks. Along the way, they stopped at truck stops, all-night diners, small town squares, even the occasional breakfast at the ubiquitous Waffle House.  En route to the NASCAR race Mecca, they answered folks’ questions and field some compliments about the new truck.

Pumping Up the Muscle Car

Jay Leno sure loves his 1970 Dodge Challenger. But cars have come a long way since the Nixon administration. So Jay turned to suspension experts Hotchkis to update his ride. After Hotchkis performed the modifications to the 39-year-old muscle car, the soul of the 70's Challenger remained intact, while the drivability is even more refined. Most important, the "guy sound" of the Challenger doesn't lose an octave.

Adapting Form to Function

When we started designing the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty Trucks we began with an excellent canvas: The 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Light Duty Truck.

 

But we encountered some new challenges in adapting form to function for the Ram Heavy Duty Trucks.  Specifically, he had to accommodate the legendary Cummins® Turbo Diesel Engine with 6.7-liter engine, which required a very specific cooling envelope, to the new truck design.
