Chrysler LLC dealer Jim Addis felt so strongly about an op-ed column that appeared last week in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer that he fired off the following letter that the paper published today. In his letter, Addis questions and corrects a number of statements and assumptions made in the original op-ed piece by Boston Globe columnist Derrick Jackson. Many Chrysler employees got their first look at the three electric-drive vehicle prototypes unveiled last month. A team of designers and engineers worked in secret for more than one-and-a-half years on the prototypes until they were shown to a surprised press corp last month, and now also to Chrysler employees. That's just one of the stories in this week's Under the Pentastar round-up of news events. 

Like a bolt out of the blue, Chrysler unveiled today three production-intent electric-drive vehicles which, with a jolt of electricity, could give consumers a gas-free commute and help the environment.

Chrysler showed the trio of electric-drive vehicles, one for each brand, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, on CNBC, the U.S. business news channel. CNBC broadcast live from in front of Chrysler headquarters, and Chrysler Chairman and CEO Bob Nardelli appeared to talk about the three electric-drive vehicles.
