Dealer Takes Issue With Writer's Column

Chrysler LLC dealer Jim Addis felt so strongly about an op-ed column that appeared last week in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer that he fired off the following letter that the paper published today. In his letter, Addis questions and corrects a number of statements and assumptions made in the original op-ed piece by Boston Globe columnist Derrick Jackson. Under the Pentastar: Feb. 6, 2009

This week Under the Pentastar, Chrysler takes its lineup of ENVI electric-drive vehicles off the proving ground and to Washington to show that the company is working hard on future technology. Increased sales for the Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Journey are two bright spots in weaker January sales results, and the Dodge Ram and the Jeep Wrangler nab two important awards.

Many Chrysler employees got their first look at the three electric-drive vehicle prototypes unveiled last month. A team of designers and engineers worked in secret for more than one-and-a-half years on the prototypes until they were shown to a surprised press corp last month, and now also to Chrysler employees. That's just one of the stories in this week's Under the Pentastar round-up of news events. 

Unveiled Live on CNBC, Chrysler Electric Cars

It felt like an auto show on the front lawn at the Chrysler headquarters on Tuesday, as Chrysler unveiled three electric-drive vehicles live on CNBC, the financial news network. You can see the clip by clicking this link - ELECTRIC.

These three electric-drive vehicles - the Dodge EV, the Jeep EV and the Chrysler EV - can travel on electric power only, without using gasoline and without emissions. One of the three will go on sale in North America in 2010, Chrysler Chairman and CEO Bob Nardelli said on CNBC.

Chrysler Goes Electric - First Electric Vehicles on Roads Next Year

Like a bolt out of the blue, Chrysler unveiled today three production-intent electric-drive vehicles which, with a jolt of electricity, could give consumers a gas-free commute and help the environment.

Think about that next time you’re pumping $4 per gallon gas at the filling station.

Chrysler showed the trio of electric-drive vehicles, one for each brand, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, on CNBC, the U.S. business news channel. CNBC broadcast live from in front of Chrysler headquarters, and Chrysler Chairman and CEO Bob Nardelli appeared to talk about the three electric-drive vehicles.
