Five Chrysler Group Vehicles Among Consumer Guide Auto’s Best Buys

by Mike Driehorst

Chrysler Group – thanks to Dodge, Ram and Chrysler brands – had five of its vehicles among Consumer Guide® Automotive’s 2013 Best Buys 26 award winners.

In fact, looking at brand families, Chrysler Group tied with Honda with the most of any automaker.
  • Midsize SUV: Dodge Journey (only one of three)
  • Large SUV: Dodge Durango (only one)
  • Large pickup: Ram 1500 (only one)
  • Minivan: Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan (only ones)

“The Chrysler Group turnaround has been a treat to watch. In a few short years the company has made revolutionary gains in terms of drivetrain...

U.S. Minivan Race: Dodge Grand Caravan Extends Lead

by Mike Driehorst

The most popular minivan in America continues to be the Dodge Grand Caravan, which extended its lead to 10,000+ minivans since last we checked in early July.

While our friends at Honda have maintained their second place standing, the Chrysler Town & Country has edged up a notch to third place with a slim 382 lead over Toyota.
  1. Dodge Grand Caravan: 108,127
  2. Honda Odyssey: 97,824
  3. Chrysler Town & Country: 87,569
  4. Toyota Sienna: 87,187

But there's still three months to go in 2012. If you're in the market for a minivan -- and want to help the Grand Caravan...

Chrysler Brand Jams Out at Detroit Jazz Festival

by Mia Morandi

From the Roaring 20s to the golden Motown era to its hardcore Rock City days, Detroit, the birthplace of techno and notable hip-hop artists, has played a significant role in nearly every music scene.

“The fact that Detroit holds the largest free jazz festival in the world and brings in such legendary musicians is a testament to the fact that the city is still playing a...

Minivan Race: Dodge Grand Caravan Easily Leads at Halfway Point

by Mike Driehorst

A big part of Chrysler Group's heritage is our pioneering development and leadership in minivans. Heck, as we all know, Chrysler had the foresight to create the minivan category, and we've continually raised the standard with minivan firsts.

While only three automakers really compete in the minivan segment, it's been a tightly contested race for the top brand spot in recent years. (Of course, if you remove the brand break down, Chrysler Group always is the hands-down, minivan leader.) As the second half of 2012 is underway, let's take a look at the latest sales leaders in...

Cars and Consistency Driving Chrysler Group U.S. Sales

by Mike Driehorst

I'd give Chrysler Group's U.S. January sales a C.

Or, rather two Cs.

Huge increase in car sales combined with consistency across all brands in growth drove our U.S. sales last month.

For the big picture, January sales were 101,149, which is up 44% compared to January 2011. It was the 22nd consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth, the eighth straight month of 20% or more sales growth, and the best January since 2008.

Consistency

Each brand was up about the same amount of raw unit sales:
  • Chrysler: up 81% over...
