Camp Jeep takes you for a ride

Every year, auto shows attract millions of people worldwide to see the newest products and concept vehicles. But, let’s face it, stationary vehicles aren’t exactly thrilling. Vehicles are made to be driven, and Chrysler Group gives show goers a unique interactive experience.

Within the Chrysler Group stand at various auto shows, passengers are able to experience vehicles firsthand. One of the biggest attractions is Camp Jeep®. This isn’t the type of camp where you pitch a tent and roast marshmallows, rather an indoor test track that resembles an off-road trail.

By now you might have seen or heard media reports that Chrysler Group’s October sales were 27 percent higher than they were a year ago — the best October since 2007 and the 19th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases.

But how did we get here? Digging into the numbers reveals some amazing results.
First stop is the Jeep brand and especially the economical, but hardworking, Compass. The Jeep brand posted its 18th straight month of sales gains powered by a whopping 566 percent spike in Compass sales, with 5,179 units sold — a record for the compact SUV.

Ram, Jeep Brands Lead Chrysler Group's U.S. February Sales Growth

 Spurred by Ram and Jeep® brands, Chrysler Group saw another month of year-over-year sales growth during February in the U.S.


February marked the 11th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increase with a 13% sales increase, topping out at 95,102 units.


In taking a look at the overall U.S. new vehicle sales market (link will open an Excel file) -- data courtesy of Autodata Corp. -- Chrysler Group came in as the #5 automaker with 9.6% of sales in February 2011. That's about 3000 vehicles shy of the #4 auto OEM, and about 3000 vehicles north...
