Only four of the 12 small SUVs tested for roof strength by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety earned the "good" or top rating and the Jeep® Patriot was one of them. It's the first time the IIHS has tested for roof strength. What's a "good" rating mean? According to the organization's president, it means the vehicles' roofs are 2.5 to 3.5 times stronger than federal standards, and that means greater safety for drivers and passengers in the event of a rollover accident.

Russian Jeep Spotted in Norwayby The Norwegian Furyman

Our friend the Norweigan Furyman, also known as Trond Antonesen, took pictures of a Jeep Liberty (Patriot) with Russian license plates that he spotted in Norway, and sent in this letter. We blacked out part of the license plate of the Jeep, for privacy purposes.
Last week I was traveling to the east side of Norway in business. On the way home again, I have to cross the Hardangerfjord with a ferry. At the key I saw a Jeep Patriot, just like mine. Funny i thought, since there are weeks between each time I see a Patriot in traffic here. I got a bit... |

Few defect allegations against automakers have been more exhaustively investigated or more completely debunked than claims of sudden, unintended acceleration.
Just this month (9/3/08), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) denied yet another petition to investigate reports of unintended acceleration, this time related to 2006 and 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickups. One quote from the ruling says it all:
