afternoon (Nov. 9, 2010), a couple automotive and truck blogs cited
two unnamed sources and claimed that Chrysler Group was considering
a name change for its Ram pickup trucks.
Rest assured, such is not the case.
There have been no discussions whatsoever, nor any consideration
given to changing the names of our incredibly successful and
award-winning Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks nor our 3500,
4500 and 5500 Ram Chassis Cab trucks.
You guys created mass confusion over the dropping of Dodge trucks,so expect this to be the norm from now on... Your sales are slower because of this,most people think it still should be a Dodge Ram ,Dodge Dakota Dodge truck ect !!! Furthermore your reasoning doesnt make sense...dropping Dodge trucks so Dodge can be a youthful ,sporty brand...REALY !!! Obviously you forgot about the Caravan,Journey,Caliber those dont fall into that category !! Most young guys like Dodge Ram's,even city dwellers such as myself,friends,family ect..A Dodge Ram R/T is sportier than a Caravan,Journey,Caliber ect....... Please stop the insanity,just call them a Dodge Ram..next will be rumors of a Fiat Ram or Ram Ram,Wham Ram ,Jeep Ram ect...Why you created this is laughable to non Dodge truck fans...and a discrace to Dodge truck owners....
Agree. The Dodge name is synonymous with durability, off road capability, just plain tough and dependable trucks. My family's Dodge ownership goes back pre-1959. Models owned range from 2wd slant six manual half tons, to big diesel 10-speed model 900, to newer 1/2 ton 4WD's some with 318's & some 5.9 magnums. Nnow our Dodges are sharing a name with a sheep? Maybe the F-150 gets a shot at my next buy. I'd have rather seen the sheep go away and the Dodge name preserved. But, then, nobody asked me, the loyal Dodge owner, what I thought about it. You folks on the Consumer Advisory Board - get the word to the Italians - ditch the sheep, like NOW!!
Although I agree with the previous poster. I'm not sure I share the same enthusiasm in criticism. If I'm not mistaken. When Chrysler announced Splitting Ram in to its own brand, they also mentioned this was in the works well before Fiat took over management control of Chrysler. Being that there is a lot of passion amongst owners and fans that this was a poor decision. If it was made by previous management, Perhaps Chrysler should reconsider this decision. As a loyal Chrysler customer, I would not consider this to ause me to stop buying Chrysler products. I love my Ram. Regardless of Whether it's a Dodge brand or a Ram Brand.. I couldn't do my work around my Farm without it.
Big mistake dropping the Dodge brand from your Ram Trucks!!! Can you imagine not calling a Ford a Ford? Or a Chevy a Chevy? Come on!!! History and heritage are very important to any product, especially trucks! I am currently a proud owner of a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. If you have no more pride in your products than that, then forget you!! I'll buy a Ford next time! They have a proud history and innovative products and they didn't take a government bailout!! You're hurting the Jeep brand too with some really lame models that lose focus of what the brand is supposed to stand for. Wake up and embrace what you have and build some brand specific products.
