From the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman to the Dodge Challenger to the Fiat 500, Chrysler Group's lineup suits a diverse range of automotive tastes.
So it only stands to reason that the men and women who stand behind our vehicles echo that diversity.
Two recent announcements reaffirm our commitment to that diversity.
Best Companies for Diversity Honor
The September 2011 issue of HispanicBusiness published a list of the top 60 Best Companies for Diversity. Chrysler Group is just one of four automotive manufacturers on the list. We rank 36th, good for being the #2 auto OEM in the U.S. We're the best of the traditional Big 3.
This is the third consecutive year that we've been included on HispanicBusiness' list. The ranking looks at "32 variables that measure a company's commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity."
12th Annual Matchmaker
For
the 12th consecutive year, Chrysler Group organized a Matchmaker
day-long event, designed to provide miniority-owned, women-owned
and veteran-owned businesses acess to the company's Tier 1
suppliers and procurement process.
Last week, more than 2,000 people, including representatives from more than 270 miniority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned and other suppliers.
"Chrysler Group will continue to create opportunities for minority-owned, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses because diversity is in the DNA of our company. Our goal is a well developed, diverse supply chain that is inclusive to all," said Senior Manager for Diversity Supplier Development Kevin L. Bell.
Let's take a look at Chrysler Group's diversity efforts and objectives:
- Chrysler's diversity goals require that 10% of a Tier 1 supplier's procurement buy be sourced to certified minority suppliers.
- Sourcing goal for Chrysler's women-owned business program is 3%.
- In 2010, Chrysler spent $1.6 billion with approximately 200 minority suppliers. That represents 13.4% of our total annual purchasing. Women-owned businesses, which are tracked separately, accounted for $231 million of our spending.
- Overall, Chrysler purchased $31 billion in direct and indirect parts, materials and services in 2010.
- Since 1983, Chrysler has purchased more than $45 billion from minority-owned suppliers.
