If life is giving you the Stray Cat Blues (a nod to the Rolling Stones) and everyone says You Ain’t Nuthin’ but a Hound Dog (thanks, Elvis), then you qualify (along with just about anybody else you can think of) to enter the “Dodge Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles ½-Marathon Benefitting the ASPCA” (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
And Dodge’s full-throttle involvement is dog-gone good.
A Dodge running team made up of southern California employee and dealer volunteers will lace ‘em up and participate this Sunday. In addition, the 2011 Dodge Durango and 2011 Dodge Charger will lead the way for thousands of runners as the official pace vehicles.
At a two-day Health & Fitness Expo held at the L.A.
Convention Center on Friday and Saturday, the 2011 Dodge Avenger,
Journey, Durango and Charger will be available to test drive, along
with the new 2012 Fiat 500. Dodge will make a $20 donation for each
test drive to the participant’s charity of choice.
But it’s the Dodge Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles ½-Marathon Benefiting ASPCA that has the good beat and is easy to run to.
It’s part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series that combines entertainment and running in a unique way. Bands stationed at every mile of the race keep runners and walkers energized, engaged and entertained.
It’s the largest and most widely attended marathon series in the world, and has raised more than $247 million for various charities. So far this year, Dodge has helped racers donate almost $30,000 to their charities of choice (including the ASPCA), and the effort continues. And, in addition to being the “Official Automotive Partner” and “Official Vehicle” of this year’s races, Dodge serves as the title sponsor of six marathons in 2011, including races in San Diego, Seattle, Virginia Beach, San Jose, Los Angeles and Miami Beach.
Something any doggie can wag his tail at.
