By now you might have seen or heard media reports that Chrysler Group’s October sales were 27 percent higher than they were a year ago — the best October since 2007 and the 19th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases.

But how did we get here? Digging into the numbers reveals some amazing results.
First stop is the Jeep brand and especially the economical, but hardworking, Compass. The Jeep brand posted its 18th straight month of sales gains powered by a whopping 566 percent spike in Compass sales, with 5,179 units sold — a record for the compact SUV.

The Jeep Wrangler reeled in some major numbers as well with its own October record, moving 9,892 units.

With its 28 percent jump, the Chrysler brand saw the biggest October gain of any Chrysler Group brand, thanks to soaring sales of the Chrysler 200. Yes, the star of the renowned “Super Bowl” spot from last year’s big game saw a 405 percent increase in sales over its predecessor during the same month a year ago.

The Ram Truck brand represents hard work, and the pickup truck brand did its part hauling in a 21 percent sales boost over its October 2010 results.

A Dodge double play combination of the mid-size Avenger and Journey crossover led the way in October. Sales for the Avenger were up 145 percent while the Journey saw a 36 percent increase.
Finally, a top line number that goes directly to the bottom line, retail sales jumped 40 percent last month compared with October 2010.

So was October a Halloween apparition? Absolutely not. Chrysler Group is enjoying a spirited 2011 so far with sales up 23 percent through the first 10 months.
