All in all, 2011 was a pretty good year for Penske Racing and the
Dodge Boys.
As the NASCAR season draws to a close Sunday at Homestead-Miami
Speedway, Penske teammates Kurt Busch and Brad Keselowski will be
racing for pride, and hoping to end the year on a winning note.
With a season’s championship out of reach, this
weekend’s racing is about momentum and closing out a
championship-caliber season that saw Dodge reach victory lane in
five regular season races and two non-point events. A productive
weekend at Homestead sets the tone for the offseason and serves as
a springboard for the team’s return to Daytona in February.
“There is still a lot of unfinished business we need to take
care of out there, that’s for sure,” said Busch, who
will once again Sunday be behind the wheel of his No. 22
Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger R/T. “Your last race out is the
one that’s freshest on your mind and you certainly hope
it’s memorable for all the right reasons. Closing out your
season with a competitive weekend at Homestead is just that
important. If you come out of there with great results, it gives
all the team members, the sponsors, the media – everyone out
there – a super calling card to remember you by. It works to
instill optimism and grow the level of confidence through all those
cold and dreary winter days.”
Keselowski (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) looks to cap an
incredible year in which the second-year Penske driver has set
Sprint Cup Series personal bests for poles, wins, top fives, top
10s, average start, average finish and laps led. Keselowski will
enter 2012 as a legitimate contender for the championship.
Keselowski is currently fourth in the Chase standings, 65 points
behind leader Carl Edwards. Busch is eighth in the Chase standings.
