America was built on diversity. People from around the world bringing their unique histories and perspectives with essentially the same goals -- to make a good life for themselves and to make America strong.

Similarly, Chrysler Group is widely recognized for its openness to diversity in its hiring practices and supplier relationships. More recognition came this week as the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce honored Chrysler Group with its Corporation of the Year Award.
The APACC Corporation of the Year Award was determined by a variety of factors. In particular, Chrysler Group was honored for its participation in community activities, minority management and minority employment. According to APACC, Chrysler Group also has shown progress cultivating Asian Pacific American business and communities through purchases, meaningful referrals and mentorship.
Since 1983, Chrysler Group has spent more than $45 billion with certified, minority-owned suppliers. Just this month, in California, Chrysler started a pilot program that extends its best-practice Matchmaker supplier diversity purchasing program to help improve dealer purchasing from minority suppliers.
Looking inward, DiversityInc magazine named Chrysler to its 2011 list of Top 50 Companies for Diversity. It's the company's fifth year on the list.
As another example, currently, the Chrysler Asian Network is celebrating Asian Heritage Month during May with a number of cultural programs.
So, while Chrysler Group has its HQ just north of Detroit in Auburn Hills, Mich., and the vast majority of its operations are in the U.S.A., the company does not hesitate to create its own melting pot with everyone aiming to earn the confidence of customers.
