In my past life as a reporter I interviewed all sorts of people,
from the voice of Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd and Daffy Duck, Mel Blanc,
to composer Aaron Copeland, to banned baseball great Pete Rose.
Football was never my beat, though, so I didn't really know what to
expect when encountering Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions.
Afterall, he was suspended last season for doing something to an
oppenent the NFL wasn't happy about. But what a pleasure to
encounter the star defensive tackle, who passionately explained the
connection between his humble roots in Portland, Oregon and the
Chrysler Brand, for which he's appeared in TV commercials.
On this Sunday morning, when the sun was beating down, and
temperatures hit 90, Suh was equally as unassuming as he led
youngsters in his weekend football camp at Dearborn High School,
just outside Detroit. The Chrysler Brand figured parents stuck
sitting in the stands, unprotected from the scorching sun, might
appreciate a diversion. So they brought out the product line and
gave those moms and dads a chance to take a test drive and maybe
grab a free bottle of water. Believe me, they appreciated it!
It was worth getting up early on a Sunday to be part of this event
and this video takes you there as well. I hope you enjoy it!
