For many of our 2012
and 2013 family of cars, trucks, SUVs and cross-overs, June 2012
was a record-setting month. While it was only our third best month
of the year with 144,811 in sales for a +20% above June 2011, it
was a big deal for seven of our vehicles. The 2013 Dodge Dart saw its first sales -- thanks largely to our dealer drive-away events last month -- with 202 officially sold.
The Jeep® Wrangler broke its month-old, all-time sales record with 14,461 sold for a +28% over June 2011. It bested its previous best-ever month set in May by seven.
Several of our vehicles had their best June ever:
- Chrysler 200: 10,871, +51%
- Dodge Avenger: 9,404, +68%
- Dodge Challenger (above): 4,009, +18%
- Dodge Journey: 6,896, +49%
On Monday, as all the experts were putting in their predictions for June sales, many did accurately report that FIAT would top its 2011 total once June numbers were in. June was the best month ever for Fiat 500 sales with 4,004 500s sold, for a +51% above June 2011. That brings its 2012 total to 20,706, about a thousand ahead of 2011's 19,769.
But, the Fiat 500 isn't our only car to already top 2011 totals. The Chrysler 300 had its best June in five years with 6,971 sold (+179% over June 2011) for a six-month total of 40,801. In all of 2011, we sold 36,285 300s.
Finally, though it's not a record, through the end of June, Chrysler Group total sales are at 834,068, for a +30% clip ahead of 2011. We didn't reach that level in 2011 until the latter half of August.
So do you think we should take July off?
Nyah. Let's keep the record-setting momentum going.
