Even before the hot rods, cool mods and classic cars roar down Detroit's storied Woodward Avenue for the annual Dream Cruise, Chrysler jump started the action as it traditionally does--with the unveiling of a special Dream Cruise PT Cruiser.
The wraps came off this morning on the 2009 Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 5, available this fall with an MSRP of $22,700, including the $670 destination charge.
The car is a study in two-tone elegance with Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl paint accentuating the body lines against MIdnight White Pearl Coat paint. Add 17-inch SRT Design wheels, chromed body-side trim moldings and bold billet grilles inspired from the DUB Edition Chrysler 300 and this year's Dream Cruiser is rolling fashion statement.
Under the hood, two choices: 2.4 liter, 16-valve engine producing 150 horsepower mated with a four-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy? Sure. 19 mpg in the city, 24 on the highway.
The second choice is a 180-horsepower turbocharged 2.4 liter engine that squeezes 18 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway.
Check out this video showing the unveiling, and comments from John Sgalia, Director, Design Studio 1 and Mike Berube, Senior Manager, Chrysler Brand Marketing.
