Only four of the 12 small SUVs tested for roof strength by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety earned the "good" or top rating and the Jeep® Patriot was one of them. It's the first time the IIHS has tested for roof strength. What's a "good" rating mean? According to the organization's president, it means the vehicles' roofs are 2.5 to 3.5 times stronger than federal standards, and that means greater safety for drivers and passengers in the event of a rollover accident.
