How about making these electric cars available to the public! I keep seeing the same repeat of hyping up that electric cars are to be made to get the PR and then they are only released to "fleets", "test markets" in quantities of 100 or less, or to "carefully selected individuals". I know the car companies do not want to create EVs for some reason; and are being forced into it. Its going to happen; so why not engage with it and learn to make money in the new reality rather than all the marketing PR gimmicks and attempting to fight the inevitable? Sell them to the PUBLIC.
Back in September we announced we'll make one of our ENVI electric vehicles available to consumers in 2010 with more to come. It's not PR smoke and mirrors. We've made the public commitment.
I hope that is so. I certainly look forward to being proven wrong and will eat my socks if it comes to fruition! More importantly I will buy the vehicle released in 2010. But, with all the marketing games and ploys I've seen over the last 10 years I'll believe it when I can walk into my local dealer and buy it. When I say buy it truely mean "Buy" -- not "lease".. with no restrictions, limitations, rules, regulations, or strings attached for the car maker to take the vehicle back and make it disappear. I'd just like to walk into a dealer and buy it as if it were any other vehicle. If Chrysler is truly serious about bringing such vehicles to the general public then I wish you the very best of luck, you'll make a fortune over the long haul, put the US back in the lead for innovation and automotive technology, and I just can't wait to see it happen!
