Club Fiat-Lancia Unlimited held its national convention this weekend in Valley Forge, PA.The convention usually goes by the more popular name, Fiat Freakout. To add to the fun, we brought along a new Fiat 500 and let the participants have a close look. They weren't shy about expressing their feelings about the little car that we hope will zip on American highways in the future.

I really enjoyed seeing the new Fiat 500 and meeting Lisa. The car is going to be very popular with everyone. On our way home from the event, two older gentlemen (70s) stopped us and asked uss all about the 2008 FIat 500 we were driving. They had fond memories of Fiats they had owned and really loved the new one. They said that "this is what America needs right now". Ok, Chrylser, young and old, we like it.

Don't expect the 500 to be the car that tops the sales charts. A refreshed PT would outsell it 2 to 1. It might be profitable, if it shares a platform with a slightly larger offering, but historicaly this niche has not been a big seller.

I', m sorry, that thing is pretty damn ugly. If Fiat's product pipeline looks like this, I don't think either of you stand a chance in the USA. If you don't have new product and stand still, you'll get run over! What does Fiat bring to the table? I sincerely hope your not showing your best card, because if you are, you'll be trumped. -Loyal, 35-Year Dye-in-the-Wool Chrysler customer

I've followed the progression of the New 500 for the last few years. I've driven one on a trip to Italy. I was lucky to have attended the event above. I will tell you that I'm ready to drop a deposit and get in line for one. Sporty, fuel efficient, safe. It's just what this country needs. Americans need to see some of the top notch product that Fiat is producing for the rest of the world.

the car is a best seller in every country that sells them. when gas is $5.00 a gallon, like it was before! and i'm driving a fiat 500 that gets 45 mpg on pump gas, and hear you complain that you have to spend $150.00 a week on gas to go back and forth to work, because your chevy blazer gets 15mpg on the highway, i'll be smiling. we have to get the big gas guzzelers off of our highways. enviormentally would be nice, but think of all the money we give ahab the arab! just think of all the explosives they can buy from all of our fuel money we send them!!!
